About the Project
The Rotary PlayGarden is a public park set on 4.5 acres in the Guadalupe RiverPark and Gardens in San Jose, CA. Built with accessibility in mind, this $6 million park was designed as a place of inclusion and interaction for all children and adults, regardless of physical ability. The project was successfully completed with donations from Rotarians, citizens, corporations, foundations and in-kind services from local subcontractors and vendors. Hensel Phelps closed a $1 million funding gap by working with more than 10 subcontractors who provided pro bono services.
The Rotary PlayGarden is designed to be fully inclusive, interactive and delightfully fun. The park creates opportunities for swinging, sliding, climbing, spinning and bouncing in a layout that encourages kids to play together. From the wheelchair accessible merry-go-round to the ADA swing chair, each play area has opportunities for all children, regardless of ability.
