About the Project
Comprised of approximately six blocks spanning 14th Street to 17th Street, Broadway Avenue to G Street, this neighborhood in the Upper East Village is surrounded by San Diego City College, the vibrant East Village, and Golden Hill. Makers Quarter seeks to provide connectivity between each of these desirable regions while creating a central, live-work-play quarter for eastern Downtown. Makers Quarter will create connections in transit housing, jobs, open space, and significant density with a vision to merge innovative economies with a strong urban community.
The gradual, incremental build begins with the residential mixed-use block to combine market and community uses. Next will be a combination of creative offices, a mixture of small, local, and mid-sized retail anchors as well as residential, all stitched together by a strong and significant office space plan. Respectful of the long history in the area, Makers Quarter will incorporate historic elements and architecture into the design and function of the neighborhood with a strong focus on sustainability.
The Navarra Family selected Hensel Phelps Development and their associates to develop what has been creatively branded as Makers Quarter, an upcoming urban neighborhood to establish, enhance, and promote linkages throughout San Diego and downtown. The Development team provided expertise in the areas of project management / owner’s representation.
